EXCHANGE: We recommend exchanging your currency gradually. Always carry small dong notes with you. Exchange money at banks or jewelry stores rather than at your hotel. Check the daily exchange rate at www.xe.com.
DRINKS: Drink only mineral water. Tea: The national drink, often free in restaurants. Filter coffee: Don't be in a hurry (long brewing time).
SECURITY: There are very few security problems in Vietnam, aside from pickpockets in some touristy areas. Leave your valuables in your hotel's (free) safes.
SCAMS: Beware of scams, always check the things you have purchased.
BICYCLE & MOTORBIKE: In some large cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, it is not recommended to ride a bicycle or motorbike because the traffic and the very dangerous driving of the Vietnamese constitute a real risk of accidents.
